Terrible Twos

Well the weekend had a rocky start. On Saturday, Camlin was having a Terrible Twos day and as usual, she took it out on Mommy. I endured slaps, kicks, and even a blow to my arm with her new 'butterfly cup', which was immediately confiscated. Of course, any effort of reasoning with Camlin was completely futile as she isn't able to hear on days like this. At one point I asked her if she was listening, to which she replied, "I'm listening Mommy." However, she then stuck her fingers in her ears and started clucking her tongue to drown out my voice. Fun. The only thing that got her somewhat in line was a promise of going to the pool on Sunday.

Sunday was much better! Camlin loves the pool and loves to play with other kids, so playing with her friend Braeden in the water was a treat.
Here she is 'swimming'.

Here she is playing with Braeden in the playhouse.
And here she is crashed out on the couch afterward!

The day ended with a bath and Mommy's special treat (bananas and strawberries in melted chocolate). Between rushed mouthfuls Camlin looked up at me with her big brown eyes and said, "Thank you Mommy. I like my special treat." And at that moment, the Terrible Twos from the day before were completely forgotten.

Water Day!

In my zeal to maintain a blog, I fear I am posting a second post too quickly! However, this will make up for the weeks that will inevitably go by without a word.

So Tuesday is Water Day at Knowledge Beginnings! Last week, Camlin wasn't too thrilled about playing in the cold, sprinkling water, and instead spent most of the time shivering underneath her towel. Let's hope today goes a little better. She certainly looked excited about it (see below) as she prepared to leave this morning. You can't see what's in her bag, but she is carrying around 2 Dora, pink and white tennis balls!

Finally ...

Well, I finally got around to creating a blog! I'm starting this so our friends and family, who don't see us often, can keep up-to-date on our lives. However, it is primarily going to be an area where I can brag about Camlin!
So, here's the latest on what she is doing:

  • Camlin is now 27 months old, 36" tall, and weighs 29 lbs.
  • She is talking in complete sentences, although sometimes it's difficult to make out some of her words.
  • Since being 9 months old, Camlin has used basic sign language to communicate, which she still continues today. Her ASL vocabulary is about 60 words now.
  • She can count to 13, identify basic shapes, and match colors perfectly. When it comes to identifying colors, Camlin recognizes them correctly most of the time, but there are days when everying is "pink".
  • Camlin can run, jump, gallop, and dance, but her favorite activity by far is climbing. She is showing interest in soccer (she can kick and throw the ball), and she likes to imitate ballet dancers (AKA princesses).
  • Potty training has started. Camlin can change her own diaper now (wahoo!) and will sit on the potty but she hasn't figured out yet that she is supposed to pee on the potty and not in the pull-up and then get on the potty!
  • Some of her favorite foods are chicken, steak, rice, spaghetti, and any kind of fruit. That being said, she would live off fruit snacks if I let her (instead, I just use them when bribing is necessary).
  • Camlin's crib converted to a day bed when she was 26 months, which was earlier than planned but necessary to prepare for our annual trip to Sandbridge beach.
  • When Dave and I are at work, Camlin spends her time at Knowledge Beginnings, which she loves. Her favorite friends are Eva and Desie, and her boyfriend is Beau!

I think those are the highlights. So, now the only thing that's left to do is show off our wonderful baby girl:
